Garrett Augustus Morgan Sr. was an inventor and entrepreneur. He was born on March 4,1877; he was from Paris, Kentucky and he was African American. His first invention was a belt fastener for sewing machines. Garrett's first wife was Madge Nelson, in 1896, but that marriage ended in divorce.
When he started to get older, he got famous for inventing gas masks and signal lights and a hair-straightening chemical.He sold hair care products, including a hair straightening cream, a hair dye, and a hair straightening comb invented by him. A reason why Garrett made traffic lights because he experienced an bad traffic accident so he want to build a device that controlled the traffic so the roads can be safe.
Garrett Morgan died from glaucoma; he started to lose his eyesight then a month after he just died from the disease. He died in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 27, 1963.
