Elizabeth Garnett Anderson was born in 1836. She was a physician in Great Britain and her ethnic group was English.
She was the first women to successfully complete the medical qualification in exams in Great Britain. Her second achievement was first woman elected as mayor in Great Britain. Another achievement was activist of women's suffrage and women's opportunities.
She grew up with a wealthy family of two parents and with eleven siblings. When she was in school she complained about the lack of Science and mathematics. Later in her life she spent six months as a nurse and was really good at it.
So she was allowed to perform her first surgery. She then started slowly joining class by class and then being allowed to join the school. But male students were not a fan of having a female student among them.It was hard but she did it and graduated and had a great career as physician.
In 1902 she then retired. Then in 1908 she became mayor of the town and the first woman to be mayor of England and died in 1917. Her daughter was also a prominent suffragette Anderson who also died in 1917.
