Madame CJ Walker was born on December 23, 1867, and died on May 15, 1919 when she was only 51. Madame CJ Walker was the first African American women to be a self made millionaire, and was the current wealthiest female African American in the United States of America when she died, too.
Some accomplishments of Madame CJ Walker was her invention that made her millions. Madam CJ Walker's main, and most successful invention was in cosmetics, as an anti-hairloss treatment made by herself, which she advertised along with her husband, all in the south. This invention was made to help herself at first, because she had a scalp ailment that made hair loss occur more often than normal. This was an important time in history for the rights of female African Americans all across America.
Some other accomplishments of Madame CJ Walker consisted of, being introduced into the NAACP, The National Association of the Advancement of Colored People. Walker was also introduced into the Female Junior Achievement of US Business, Hall of Fame. When she died,her business was valued at 1 million dollars, and since she was the heart and sole of her business, it was not carried on after her death by her husband or children.
