Our 7th grade science class is on a quest to highlight the contributions of scientists and engineers from backgrounds that have been traditionally underrepresented in STEM fields, including women and minorities. In addition to writing narratives of historical scientists, we are actively looking to learn about present-day female and/or racial and ethnic minority scientists. Our goal is to create an online database of "Missing Scientists" to actively combat prevalent stereotypes that science was and still is a field primarily for white males, and increase public awareness of scientists from a variety of backgrounds and demographics.
If you are a woman and/or person of color working in a STEM field, we would love to highlight your story! Students are actively looking for scientists to interview via email or phone. Please email us to participate.
